The terrorist in us..Lets kill it...

On 26th November …My Incredible India fell again, and got itself smacked onto the same stone it had stumbled before.. as it never took pains to clear the way.. .

In a manner of a ritual, and a precise sequence of a mathematical formula, every terror attack is ensued by a series of events..which if braced together look like an umpteenth remake of the same movie…All that follows is

  • Change in the cabinet resulting out of forced resignations of the some incompetent minister to be replaced by another equally or more incompetent and impudent one.
  • Anti govt and anti terror protests by various public organizations – Characterised by a candle march…and also some clichéd sound bites by page three personalities surrounded by people shoving each pother to be in the frames of camera – their historical moment of glory…
  • Paens of praise are sang in the remembrance of the martyrs and the other lost souls.
  • Announcements of compensations to the injured and the families of those who lost their lives.. – Some organizations spend more money in media blowing the trumpet of their so called ‘generosity’ than they actually donate. It forces one to think as if they were desperately waiting for this ONE BIG MOMENT to show their large hearts to the world…

This time has not been different either…Just that that the clarion calls on the streets have been joined by a plethora of anti terror and anti govt.websites urging people to become a member to mark their resentment and anger against the terror. (Which I believe will only be used later for a database to sell some credit cards or home loans)..

Again and again…One terror strike after another…We have shamelessly stood up the roofs screaming to the top of our voice about our ‘undaunting spirit’....’Mumbai spirit’. UTTER BULL ***...The most convenient excuse to parry action… It is the compulsion of existence and not the Non fearing, brave character…We have repeatedly tried to fool ourselves to bask in the glory of illusionary strapping fortitude when none exist, resulting in paralysis of the guts.

Government has always been the one to draw the flak, and rightly so… but why just blame the government, we are equally responsible.. We are the larger culprit. After all government is as good as its public.

The government and administration is to serve the public and we being their masters are equally to be blamed… for we have failed to push the competitive levels of our administrators.

The biggest damage of the 60 years of inefficient governance has been the spoilt, stoic, corrupt and unconcerned public with little or no concern for anything ad anyone beyond the four walls of their houses.

  • We have been rarefied by the personal liberties that other countries dream of.
  • We have been spoilt for we believe and rightly so, that we can get away by the gravest of crimes either due to our power, money or incapability of the administration to punish us.
  • We lose our self esteem at getting frisked by a security personnel.
  • We pat on our back for our smartness for getting a ticket by breaking the queue…
  • We know we can litter our colony with impunity.
  • We smug at having got a passport issued earlier than the neigbour by the virtue of a bribe
  • We mock and isolate the honest, the whistle blower….Perhaps its not cool to be one.. Is it ?
  • We don’t want to rally for the politician who refuses to offer personal favours.
  • We don’t want to be levied on strictness of administration We don’t want to be enforced discipline upon..

However, when a 26/11 happens, we will certainly manifest our seething anger, will feel momentary restlessness of doing something for our country…But this all ends here. Like Dry Suds.

Our politicians have been smart enough to exploit our slothful and stoic character, resulting in more than 60 years of under-governance.

Its high time we stood up against the terrorist… Not just the ones who threat us with guns from Pakistan… but also the ones who have found safe haven in all of us…. Its high time we stoop up against ourself..Our instincts… our temptation to find shortcuts. Our tendency to take things lying down.

Yes Enough is Enough….Enough of our indifference. Enough of our cowardice. Enough of Our impudence…Enough of our narrow parochialism…enough of sheltering under ignorance…

Enough of Talking..Now its time to act against ourself…. start this revolution to change ourself..If there is any revolution now worth starting.. that is it..

I pledge to do so...Yes, I may be alone..I may not be cool anymore...but I will...

Making of a new brand of terrorism...

For the last few days the media has been fraught with the news of gunning down of Rahul Raj by Mumbai police….A young overzealous boy, incensed at the ongoing maltreatment meted out to UPites and Bihar’s in Mumbai by MNS workers..decided to take up the cudgels for his fellow statesmen against the perpetrators of the crime who happen to be his countrymen…
An ugly series of accusations among politicians has followed about the need to encounter, with Maharashtrians defending the move and Bihar politicians among others condemning what they call an highly uncalled for an could be avoided encounter.
However all this usual mudsling and a covert attempt to gain political mileage by highly unscrupulous and disdainful politicians, has shockingly shrouded the larger issue of why did a bright young boy with not even an iota of track record of illegal activity of any kind took such a drastic step ?

This unfortunate incidence unfortunately seems to have brought my worst fears to truth.
Various terror outfits, either in India or abroad have born out of the torture, manhandling and suppression of a weaker section of a society by the stronger ones.
Be it Naxalism..with poor labourers ill-treated by their wealthy feudal land lords for years or the Sikh terrorism in Punjab which gained disastrous proportions as a retaliation against mass killing of Sikhs after Indira Gandhi’s assasination… Be it Palestine or Balkan states or Maoists movement against the monarchy in Nepal.. The uprisings have been caused by the hostilities meted out by one section of the society to another. However, most of these movements invariably swayed away from their cause and eventually tread the same path of injustice and harming innocent public.

My fear is that the current hatred movement in Mumbai against UPites and Biharis , has all the potents of being snowballing into a far more serious menace of a new terrorism…Bhaiyya Terrorism….And the Rahul Raj’s misadventure could be the epochal episode marking its beginning if this hatred and hostility continues for long…

There has been a lot of provocative pin pricking not only by Raj Thackrey and his team of Hooligans but also by the self proclaimed flag bearers of UP and Bihar pride (Read politicians like Laloo Yadav and RamVilas Paswan etc.).. In their usual cavalier disdain towards the nation and the people whose interest they claim to safeguard all that the politicians have been doing is to feed their dirty political objectives…
I was really shocked by the news of Laloo Yadav apathetically stoking the emotional flames by announcing to send a train from Bihar to Maharashtra for Chhat Puja. I could not understand that how could that have helped the UPites and Biharis from MNS torture.
This came very close to the heels of his threat to stop trains in Mahrashtra..….None shows the foul attitudes and hideous intents of our politicians better than Laloo’s misconception of owning railways if he is the Railway minister.

With this hatred campaign of MNS which Shiv Sena has been propagating for long we must ask if this will mark the beginning of various groups and sub groups already claiming reservation and perks their own exclusive territories… And India with its unique composition of thousands of small ethnic groups will again move to a prehistoric system of clan based society.

Any steps taken against the immigrants will be initiation of another problem than the solution.. Ten years hence we may witness another such ugly contest between Konkans and Vidhrbha in Maharashtra…West UP and East UP…Doaba and Malwa in Punjab…so on and so forth.
Where will this buck stop????

Defection of people from the lesser prosperous regions to a wealthy land of opportunities is a worldwide phenomena. London houses a lot of Polish and East European population.. A lot of Indians we proudly call as NRI’s have moved to various parts of world in search of greener pastures.

However, the solution does not lie in perpetrating hatred against the immigrants but creating enough earning opportunities in places like Bihar and UP instead of resort to confrontationist and equally destructive practices the likes of Raj Thackrey and Laloo has initiated.
A lot of soul searching needs to be done by Bihar and UP politicians to find out why it’s per capita contribution to Indian exchequer is so low as compare to its per capita criminal cases to the Indian courts…
It has become highly fashionable in political circuits to criticize Narendra Modi for his ‘Communal agenda’ but most fail to see his contribution to the Gujarat by making it the country’s economic power….

The only solution lies in the creation of enough opportunities for everyone at the pan India level…At least immigrant bashing and anti immigrant movements will do nothing but spark the flame of revolutions and terror and the only innocent LOCALS will be at the receiving end…..

There is dire need at this time for someone sitting at a high chair with some authority to get to the gravity of the problem at hand instead of fanning the flames, else this seemingly small spark may assume the form of disastrous and inexorable conflagration..

Aamchi Local S'train'

Once a friend of mine happened to ask me about the highlight of Mumbai life, to which I instantly replied the ubiquitous crowd which flows unabatedly and tirelessly in its various forms. On road it assumes the shape of snarl ups and long jams; on pathways it can be experienced by innumerable jostles; It also makes its presence felt by long queues and packed restaurants.
However, no other nature of human assembling can match the power ‘packed’ display of the God’s beloved creation in its Tsunami like avatar at the railway stations which evolves into even more forceful flow inside the trains.
No better spectacle of human power is on offer than the entry in the local train. At the first and the slightest of conceivable moment a human being can plausibly board the train in motion, a wave of people rush powerfully inside to capture the seats in a warlike manner. The speed at which they remorselessly bang their arses on to seats reminds me of the musical chair game I used to play as kids. One needs to be amply experienced, agile and also powerful to be able get a seat in the train where a place to stand with just enough breathing space eludes even the most seasoned travelers like feminine grace does to Rakhi Sawant.

Living in Mumbai for last couple of years I have also been the part of this mad rush and also learned a few basic tricks but still far off from being called a cat.
I still remember the days when I would wait for a relatively empty train just to let go a series of trains one after another convincing myself that the next train could have less people. However, this misplaced optimism would fetch me nothing but my boss’s fury for getting late, as the every next train I pegged my hopes on would be as packed as the previous one.
Being a mute spectator to this everyday game of ‘Local Train Rugby’, I decided to be a player and sooner I learned that all I had to do to be on board was to ungenerously subject my unwilling body to front of the door and the mob would do its part to push me inside. This courage however, had its own flip side as all my body parts would gang up and retaliate later with vengeance for this ignorance and torture.

Sooner I realized that it’s just the beginning.. getting on to the train is just a labour pain and being inside is the more painful struggle…..struggle of survival….Survival of the fittest..
And as the great Chinese scholar Confucius would say.....'If a women can't escape the rape she should enjoy it"
I also started started enjoying and finding positives out of unavoidable everyday rape inflicted upon me by the local train journey...
Will soon be posting on the POSITIVE side of a literally ‘HAIR RAISING’ experience of traveling in the local train.

GO....SMOKING

Government has unleashed yet another shot off its repertoire to hit the common public in its misplaced concern for them by imposing a ban on smoking in the public areas. However, the biggest cache remains the absence of explicit and comprehensive definition of public areas and also a big question mark over the inclusion of some.
This ambiguity will lead to a chaos of sorts for the common public (read: smokers) as any place can be termed as the public place by the Law enforcers and you have to budge
Imagine someone smoking on a road being accosted by policemen harassing him/her on account of smoking in a ‘public place’.

What’s the solution…SETTLEMENT… as neither the smoker is sure and in all likelihood nor the police as to what is the public place???? But than Police…..like in most of the cases where amm janta is involved will have the last laugh… This will create an additional revenue model for our already highly corrupt police as the hapless smoker in all his ignorance of the places that qualify as legal smoking areas will end up paying fine under pressure by unscrupulous officials, to escape the embarrassment.

The worst hit are going to be the poor uneducated class smoking their bidis .They will either have to cough up a fine at the drop of the hat if seen smoking at any place under the sun or some frustrated hawaladar will vent his wife’s or inspector ire on him.
That seems to be a really innovative and hands on approach to drive home the message of cigarette being really injurious to health.

However, this ambiguity, according to the self proclaimed experts of this law, relentlessly flashing across the T.V frames for last few days will be clear with the time.

But I being an aam janta must ask that why this ambiguity in the first places itself…?
Why is there such a big ETC in the list of public places mentioned in the ad by the govt of India declaring this law….?

This inefficiency and lack of foresightedness reminds of a not too old such move by the govt of India in various states to make helmets compulsory in its drive to ensure the road safety.
Though this could be a personal opinion and I may be incredibly wrong, I feel that adults must and can’t not be forced into their own safety by wearing a helmet; it has to be left to them as they will otherwise surely find another more dangerous way out.

Moreover Helmet is just a damage control device and not that can ever prevent an accident. Thus the prime focus should be on the ways to prevent one…

The law resulted in the mushrooming of the swarm of cheap low quality helmet sellers overnight. These helmets would do anything but save a life should an accident happen.

Also, what really seemed really myopic to me was the inability of the beaurecrats sitting on the high chairs to foresee the possibility of the market being fraught with the tawdry helmets defeating the purpose of the safety of human life…
Why the govt did not come down equally heavily on the useless helmet manufactures as much it did on the helmet less drivers???
If the govt were really so concerned about the human life… why did it not ensure a minimum quality standard to be followed for every helmet..?

This law like many such laws made by govt of India which I would say in my own kiddish manner, was followed only in its ‘aesthetic’ and symbolic sense as the most of people were not wearing a helmet but a replica….and that too momentarily at the sight of Khaki…

There are many such thoughtlessly ,hastily declared , ruthlessly implemented and inefficiently maintained rules I have come across in last few years of my mental awakening (many would say ‘weakening’)…Will surely take up a few more of them sometime soon…and also some more on NO SMOKING………..

A Tribute to all great thinkers

Here I claim my few millimeters in this fast expanding space of blogging.

For a long time I have been thinking to flag off my maiden blog but than being a ‘great thinker’ that I am, I just kept on thinking …..on what to blog..about the name of my blog..and many other such considerate pretexts to evade the pain of turning the ‘great thoughts’ into reality….after all then they are not thoughts anymore…..

As I go on writing this, I hope that a profound piece of thought strays away from my ever wandering brain and strikes me like a piece of meteor to a planet and veer me to other direction, to my relief and break me free from the shackles of the sacrilege of action…… Therefore, if by any chance you are able to see a complete piece of write up..there is every chance of it having gone through as many breaks as there are paragraphs and each break could be as long as a many weeks before some other mischievous thought pricks my grey cells to continue the blasphemy of ‘DOING’ …..Therefore, if you have to put up with this desperately -trying- to –be- hilarious and esoteric piece of shit (some may also call it a loose motion) , I must tell you that its not my fault…I seem to have been demoniaced by some insane and a lesser soul who must have been a damn doer….

I am a strong believer in the power of thought so much so that thinking seems to have become a favorite hobby perfected over the years with enormous amount of hard work (read: hard thoughts) ……..be it a rockstar,a famous writer, a world class tennis player or a business tycoon..I have DONNed it all (not done) according to the prevailing mood and readily available inspiration…..when the consequential feeling and happiness can be felt by making khyali pulavs (English translation – (thoughtful rice) which can be cooked at the speed faster than maggi..Why bother yourself trying to’ Do and ACT’ and pay a huge opportunity cost of precious time and energy that could otherwise b used in cooking many other great pulavs (thoughts) ..and newaz ..they say that ‘sab Moh Maya Hai’

When it has become such a strong influence and part in my life, I decided (a very near wicked cousin of action) to dedicate my blog to ‘thinking’…and named it ‘Thinkwhyy’….I took me an enormous amount of anguish to type those two extra y’s unwillingly, when I had almost thought of taking another few weeks to find an alternative name, but somehow again…that Do IT NOW DEMON took control………

A highly deeply thought of rationale behind this name stems from the predicted reactions of the readers of my blog, as most of them may frown and politely think to themselves………Why the f*** did he not think..Hence to free myself from any claims of damage from them for the could be intellectual torture they may face and the momentary wear and tear of their brain trying to understand my stuff , the name will act as a disclaimer (‘Think why’ – “why did you read… The name in itself mentions that why must think ;-) )..However, for the fellow great thinkers who would resonate and find the pearls of great wisdom without any great pains could be all gaga over this tribute to their revered leisure activity heap praise for the attempt to understand the ‘WHY’.With their incurably optimistic attitude and resilience they would make sense of the seemingly NON sense ….. may read it like ‘Think ………why?’

Newaz ..Its been a bit too much of doing (writing now)..I have gotton into myself having gotton myself rid of the wicked DO IT Demon,,,,However, the damage (blog) has been done… apologies for the same to the non fellow great thinkers……To the fellow Great thinkers…Will take your leave to embark on another thoughtful journey of writing my next blog….but the former one need not worry you shall get enough time to recuperate…
